Let me first recommend the book, Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl by Lysa Terkeust. Lysa's book describes what happens when you let an amazing God guide and lead you. She shares her ups and downs and gives practical suggestions to get you on the right path. Here are a few things I read from her book this month.
p. 135 "Thanksgiving is the very way that Jesus helps us get our groove back."
p. 143 "I am a person who desperately needs grace; therefore, I must freely give it."
p. 145 " Asking why is perfectly normal. Asking why isn't unspiritual. However if asking this question pushes us farther from God rather than drawing us closer to Him, it is the wrong question."
p. 155 "When I process life through my feelings, I am left deceived and disillusioned. When I process life through God's truth, I am divinely comforted by His love and make confident in His calling on my life."
p.181 "But remember, seeing God isn't for the purpose of being wowed. It is for the purpose of changing us, growing us, and strengthening us to become more than people with a mere knowledge of God. We are to become changed people who live out the reality of God."
I have also been reading Randy Alcorn's book 50 Days of Heaven. It has challenged my view of heaven. Our view of heaven could be what is keeping many Christians from fully living the life God has for them.
From the book " Our belief that Heaven will be boring betrays a heresy- that God is boring. There's no greater nonsense."
Lastly from Isaiah 8:12-13
"Don't call everything a conspiracy, like they do, and don't live in dread of what frightens them. Make the Lord of Heaven's Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble.
Dear God, Thank you for working on me and through me. May my view of heaven reflect in the way I live each day. May I anticipate what you have for us who believe in you and share this with my family and friends. Most of all, may I make you, the Lord of Heaven's armies holy in my life. In Jesus name, Amen
