From Meet Mrs. Smith: My Adventure with Six Kids, One Rockstar Husband, and a Heart to Fight Poverty by Anna Smith
"No problem is too big for God. If it is, we need to make God bigger and watch our problem shrink. Small God, big problem-big God, small problem."
From Jon Bloom at Desiring God in his post Lay Aside the Weight of Sluggishness.
"Spiritual sluggishness is a manifestation of unbelief. It's a sign there's something about God we doubt and its draining our hope, which means its draining our energy and drive."
From Ann at Holy Experience in her post Why the Battle for Joy is Really Worth It. Great reminder for the summer as the kids and I are spending more time together.
"If you don't fight for Joy, its your children who lose."
Proverbs 21:31 from the Message
"Do your best, prepare for the worst- then trust God for the victory."
From Courtney Carver in her blog post Judge Less: Mini Mission. This is an ouch quote for me. I am trying to make it my mini mission too.
"Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are."
From Paul Tripp
"If God doesn't rule your mundane, then He doesn't rule you, because that's where you live."
From A Cry for Justice by Shelley Hundley. I am enjoying hearing Shelley tell her story and how God has worked in her life. Here are a few quotes from her book.
"At its most basic level, every pain we experience reveals a longing within us to encounter God's beauty, or the essence of who He is. For some, that beauty is found in knowing the depth of the Father's love for us. For others, it is recognizing the great delight He takes in us."
"Pain reveals to us the inadequacy of what we are beholding and unlocks our ache for a greater beauty to fulfill our need. Pain and suffering, therefore, are useful not because they have redemptive or transforming power, but because of what they tear down in our lives and the One to whom they can lead us. Pain directs us to the place where God is waiting, ready to change us."
" The reality is that if we hate the sins we are still in bondage to, then the Judge is our greatest friend. He will fight to set us free, and He will release the spirit of the Fear of the Lord, which has the power to turn our hearts away from sin. The evil one wants to try to get us to back away in shame. The enemy knows how powerful it will be if we grasp the reality that Jesus the Judge is for us and not against us."
Dear God, May I find joy even when things are crazy or hard. May I trust you with my hurts and to be my judge as you continue to remake me. May you rule all of my life in those parts that are mundane. May you bring victory here in this land. Amen.
